Chinamans Creek, Katherine, NT – 30 May

Hi All,

Was able to spare an hour or so this morning to check out Chinamans Creek, the well known site SW of Katherine on the Victoria Highway.

There is still a bit much water around for the birds to be concentrated around waterholes like Chinamans Creek, but there was still a few things around. The highlight was a group of about 16 Hooded Parrots, mostly females and young males, with 3 mature males. Other birds about included Northern Fantail, Restless (Paperbark) and Leaden Flycatchers, Rufous-throated Honeyeaters, Red-winged Parrot and a distant Cockatiel.

Not a lot of birds, but otherwise a very pleasant time on a beautiful dry season morning.

Good birding!
