Sat 6 Dec Red-kneed Dotterel (1) Black-fronted Dotterel (3) Wood Sandpiper (1) Spotless Crake (1) Lake Claremont Australian Spotted Crake (2) Nankeen Heron (1) Others saw: Baillon’s Crake (1); Little Bittern (1) Bob Hay Thu 4 Dec Long-toed Stint Lake Baghdad (Rottnest Island) Unusual habitat for this species. Also Hooded Plover & Greater Sand Plover at causeway, Rock Parrot flew over Lake Baghdad. Mark Stanley Wed 3 Dec Chinese Pond Heron Cocos Keeling Islands South of Home Island Half an hour walk through knee deep tropical water at low tide has found the Pond heron Six out of seven times since May 2014 Geof Christie Tue 2 Dec Little Bittern Lake Claremont At least 2 Little Bitterns seen this morning between 7-8 am on the east side of Lake Claremont, flying between patches of reeds and eventually showing towards top of reeds. Also Wood Sandpiper (1), Red-necked Avocets (4), Sharp-tailed Sandpipers (8), Spotless Crake (1), Australian Crake (2), White-necked Heron (1). Mark Stanley Sun 30 Nov Hodgson’s Hawk Cuckoo Cocos Keeling Islands Home island Seen on a bare branch drying it’s feathers out while we tried to photo the Blue and White Fly Catcher. Photographed early morning, midday and late afternoon. Hodgson’s Hawk Cuckoo and a possible Oriental Cuckoo.seen in the same tree early morning.
