Albany Pelagic Trips 3rd & 4th May – brief highlights

Hi all, Full trip reports to come when they are done (there’s still some discussion to be had), but some preliminary highlights from the Albany pelagic trips run over the weekend included: Saturday 3rd: Wandering Albatross [sp] (3-4) Campbell Albatross (2) FAIRY PRION (1 – this is a very good bird for WA!) Slender-billed Prion (1 – TBC) Antarctic/Salvin’s type Prion (1 – TBC) Wilson’s Storm-Petrel (c. 500) BLACK-BELLIED STORM-PETREL (40) SOUTH POLAR SKUA (1 – probably a second too, unfortunately only seen briefly) Sunday 4th: Wandering Albatross [sp] (1) Soft-plumaged Petrel (1 dark morph) Wilson’s Storm-Petrel (c. 500) BLACK-BELLIED STORM-PETREL (20) Little Shearwater (35, including quite good views of this notoriously frustrating species!)
