RFI – Snowy Mts/Thredbo

Hi all I am visiting Thredbo in the Snowy Mts next week. As is often the case, I am on a family holiday, so will fit birding in around other activities (eg “scaling” Mt Kosciusko) but any information on sites close to Thredbo that would be good for family walks or solo walks in the early morning would be of interest. There’s a few species found in the area that are of particular interest, so any information is appreciated in on good sites for: – Pink Robins (Bradbury indicates they are present, but not much guidance on where) – Olive Whistlers (ditto) – Spotted Quail Thrush – Owls generally I have to admit I haven’t raided the archives yet, but will do so shortly. Cheers Tom Wilson

    Hi,

Just returned from Thredbo. Olive whistler on Merritts Nature Trail, one third of way down. Pilotbird on Bridle Trail – good for a morning solo walk. Flame robins on Chairlift-Dead Horse Gap track. Lots of birds on lower Pallaibo track, near Jindabyne.

    Good luck,

    Carl Weber
