Returning from a trip to Phillip Island on Sunday we encountered a large flock of Black Noddies feeding on bait fish. Sitting on the water in amongst the flock was a Buller’s Shearwater. I can find no mention of this bird being recorded for Norfolk Island in the Margaret Christian’s book “Norfolk Island … the birds”. Does anyone know if there have been other sightings of this seabird near Norfolk Island before?
