I would usually try to help with visiting WTP but discovered last week when I glanced at my permit when I was checking something else, that it had expired in 2013!!!!! Melbourne Water used to send a letter when renewals were due, but obviously don’t now, and haven’t for some time. They now email, and renewals are done on line. If, like me, you haven’t looked at the expiry on your permit, I suggest having a look, as a friend has also had his expire! They are renewing under my old permit so I won’t have to re-sit the induction, so if you are in the boat an email to them might be a good idea. Sonja

No problem with my renewal.
I received an e-mail on 29th September for a permit that was to expire on
26th October. Returned completed application form the same day and
received my new permit in the mail before the current one expired.

& check every day that they have received your money and have issued the renewal.
I sent mine & never heard back. Then rang up some months later to check but too late. They let you keep the key but they keep your $50.
So if you want to renew it chase them up frequently. I think it is 30 days lapse and you have lost it.
Cheers

I have just spoken to Melbourne Water at the WTP and was advised they ARE
sending out email reminders. The very friendly Antonella advised the January
renewals email reminder was sent out on 8 December.
I would suggest you whitelist this email or at least the domain name:
birdwatching@melbournewater.com.au
Hope this helps

Thanks for the warning, Sonja. Mine expires 14/2/16, but I haven’t seen a renewal email. Do you know how far in advance they send them?
