G’day We had a bit of a wet forecast for Brisbane, so I guess it wasn’t surprising that there were 30+ Needletails flying over Mt Gravatt (around 9 am – saw them while driving from Logan Road to the Freeway). We had a quiet morning at the Mt Coot-tha botanical gardens (Christmas keeps people away from parks and gardens), so had nice views of a Brown Goshawk calling. There is a new section in the gardens that showcases plants suitable for domestic situations (worth a look). While making our way slowly back to the car, we noticed a handful of Needletails circling over the gardens (around noon). Anyhow, I trust you have all joined the swifts in having a merry christmas. Regards, Laurie.

Good numbers of Christmas WTNTs were over Wynnum North this morning too. On the way to a Christmas family lunch in the Wynnum area I called by Sandy Camp Road Wetlands and on arrival at 6am I noticed 7 overhead and that 7 expanded to around 50 plus hawking above me for insects for the whole time I was there up until I left at 9am.
