Owl Boxes

Hi all I have just started work as the coordinator for Barron Catchment Care in Atherton. One of our old projects was working with landholders installing owl boxes on their properties. The project has stalled for a while, and as a keen birdo I’m more than happy to re-start it. Mixing business with pleasure! I’m after some advice about owl boxes. The owl boxes Barron Catchment Care have are made from ply and around 1.5 metres deep. They are based on a design developed by John Young when he was working and living in Ingham. Does anyone know of similar projects where there has been monitoring done of owl box use, and by what species of owl? Or possum. Or other users. And a big challenge is how to safely install large unwieldy boxes 10 m high up a tree. I have serious questions about the durability of the boxes, and have heard of nesting boxes for cockatoos on Kangaroo Island made out of PVC pipe. And people over in WA using PVC pipe for nesting boxes. If anyone can assist me on this matter, can they contact me at work on the following email address? coordinator@barronrivercatchment.org.au Thanks Ian Sinclair — This email has been checked for viruses by Avast antivirus software. https://www.avast.com/antivirus
