The following is a digest of Sightings Reported on Birdpedia for the period Monday, December 9, 2013 to Sunday, December 15, 2013: Area: SA Location: The Beyond housing Development Hayborough Port Elliot road Freckled Duck (Stictonetta naevosa) (1) Single bird resting on bank with other duck species. this is the first sighting of this species at this location. Reported by: Winston Syson on Friday, December 13, 2013 ——————————————— Date: Saturday, December 14, 2013 Location: Whites Road Wetlands, Globe Derby Australian Painted Snipe (Rostratula australis) (1) Single male observed amongst reeds on sandbar. Birds SA members watched area where 2 males had been seen on 1st December. After approx 20 minutes the bird was seen when it moved. Observed moving around and sitting in the reeds. Weather was bright and sunny, temp approx 23 degrees. When entering from Whites Road, take the track to the left around the the outside of the wetlands (clockwise direction). The first dam has been reduced to three separate pools of water, the bird was seen on the sandbar between the 2nd and 3rd pools.
