Little Woodswallow mimicry caught on video

Hi Birders, Some of you may recall that over a year back I posted an RFI regarding mimicry in Central Australian Little Woodswallows (LWS). The response was that no-one could find reference to it in the literature so I resolved to capture them ‘at it’ on video. After a long (wet) winter season where I heard Little Woodswallow in mimicry almost every day whilst trek leading on the Larapinta Trail but I didn’t get a chance to record it, I finally pulled it off last week. The video is here:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fY9zL4apy_MThe soundtrack is a bit quiet but you can clearly hear Grey Shrike-thrush calls mixed into the usual LWS tune.Through the winter species I have heard LWS mimic include Rufous Whistler, Dusky Grasswren, Kestrel, Brown Falcon, Slaty-backed Thornbill, Inland Thornbill, Spinifexbird and a fairy-wren species (probably Variegated). I will endeavour to gather more footage of this excellent species’ mimicry in the coming months and will share the results in the same manner.
