We hope that a shorter waiting time for publication will encourage more people to contribute papers and submit their observations of Indonesian birds. This issue features an article on the Sulawesi-endemic Dark-eared Myza, and papers on a large communal roost of wintering Purple-backed Starlings in Central Java, breeding of Little Cormorants and Little Egrets in Sumatra, first records for Japanese Paradise-flycatcher and Hoopoe, and more. ‘Around the Archipelago’ is a bumper with 30 pages of records and photos of new or unusual island or provincial records. For further reading, our Recent Literature section lists over 100 articles and dissertations concerning Indonesian birds that have been written over the last two years.
