Yesterday,(1/10/2010) while walking around Truganina Swamp,Altona,VIC, I looked up to see large numbers of Little-black Cormorants flying over. They where in V formation, comprising 3 to 4 V’s,but they “flowed” about changing formation and size and position as I watched.I presume this was the drafting change-over.They where flying East to West. I estimated somewhere between 400 and 500 birds, probably around 450 at a guess.I’ve never seen this number at one time before. Is this unusual or notable?
