Yours was not an unusual situation when using “booking agents” These people are opportunists who not only sting the guest but also the accommodation provider (up to 30%) As someone who has been in the accommodation industry for a few years, please take it from me – always book direct with the hotel!!!!! The hotel’s web site will always have direct contact details.
