For the interest of list members.
The Victorian Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC) has today published (Melbourne Herald Sun and Weekly Times newspapers) its assessment of a nomination of Common Mynas as a threatening process under the Flora and Fauna Guarantee Act 1988.
The title of the nominations is as follows.
‘Competition with native fauna by the Common Myna Sturnus tristis’ (Potentially Threatening Process)
The SAC’s assessment (Preliminary Recommendation Report) found that there was not currently sufficient scientific evidence to support listing of the item as this time.
The recommendation is now open for public comments until 30 July 2012 and the SAC is keen to hear people’s thoughts on the recommendation.
I can provide copies of the SAC Preliminary Recommendation to interested people. Please contact me offline.
cheers, Martin
