Hi Chris,
Brown Goshawk Accipiter fasciatus it is. That’s why you couldn’t find any yellow (which you would have found if it was a Grey Falcon).

G’day Jonny,
I sent my reply to Chris via Denise’s post without seeing yours first. However my vote would still be for a pale Brown Falcon. I can see the tear drop face mark of a Falcon within the blur, and structurally the tail doesn’t look quite long enough with a rather long outer wing held in a rather pointed shape, this doesn’t work well for me as an Accipiter. The contrast of the dark features in the lesser under-wing coverts and the patch at the position of the thigh also seem a better fit to me for Brown Falcon.
Cheers Jeff.
