Hi Michael. I just had a look at the PIRSA pest animal listing and note that in 2009 there were 15 reports of BDs in twelve locations north and south of Adelaide and some in the city itself. A total of 110 birds were involved. There are three or four commonly known locations and I know that BDs are currently still at some of them.. Not sure what PIRSA is doing about them – one lot of about 8 birds is in a garden centre on a main suburban road and would be easily accessible. Maybe PIRSA don’t consider them too much of a pest potential, or that so many people here have them as aviary pets that it’s inevitable that there will be a continuing escape population.
