Eaglehawk Neck, Tasmania – Pelagic Reports 3&4 Sept 2011 – photos

Hi Andrew,

We only had a total of 9 Yellow-nosed Albatross combined on both trips. We had a close look at all of them. We are certain they all were Indian YNA. I think that the pearl-grey color is a trick of light. The bird on image 9490 also doesn’t show the upside-down black triangle around the eye that a typical Atlantic YNA should show. Obviously, from this angle you cannot say much about the shape of the yellow at the base of the bill, but we did not see any “blunt-based” ones.

Cheers,

Nikolas
