Hello All For anyone thinking of going to Gluepot Station for the Scarlet-chested Parrots that are being seen there at the moment, it might be worth noting that from the 5th of August to 8th August (inclusive) Gluepot Station will be closed. They are shutting the place up for feral animal control during that period. Apparently, shooters are coming in to shoot some of the many feral goats. It may say something about it on their website? Hi Peter
It seems to me, phoning the rangers is no different to putting the location on birding-aus. Anyone can phone the rangers. The rangers have no idea if you are a bona fide birdwatcher or not.

Hi all To those who are thinking of heading up to Gluepot to twitch the Scarlet-chested Parrots this weekend, here’s the latest information re closure of the reserve due to goat shooting. The northern, western and eastern parts of Gluepot will be closed from 5 to 8 Oct. The track into Gluepot and on to the homestead and visitor centre will be open and this track continues on to Babbler campsite which will also be open. After that the track is closed (so no access to the Red-lored Whistler site). The site where Scarlet-chested Parrots have been seen is open (walking only). And a request – could people please refrain from posting detailed information about where the SCP’s have been seen. There is a small but ever-present threat of poaching. If you want to know where to find them, phone the rangers. For general information visit the Gluepot website on http://www.riverland.net.au/gluepot http://www.riverland.net.au/gluepot cheers Peter
