Hi all, Had one of the best days ever at Gluepot today – despite unseasonably warm (24C) weather. It started off with a vagrant male Painted Honeyeater (which has only been recorded here twice before) followed by no less than 4 Scarlet-chested Parrots…! The image of a brilliantly coloured male and a female together perched in a low bush in the scope at less than 20 metres distance is still firmly burnt in my memory (alas no camera). Further highlights include a family group of Red-lored Whistlers (male, female at possible nest site, judging by behaviour, accompanied by two immatures, one of which was learning how to sing “red-lored-whistlerish” with some Gilbert’s notes thrown in to confuse everyone). Two flocks of Miners containing a few Black-eareds each; a family group of 6 Striated Grasswrens all being very busy singing and running around; White-browed Treecreepers, Splendid Fairy-wrens; Gilberts and Rufous Whistlers; plenty of White-fronted Honeyeaters; Southern Scrubrobins and Chestnut-quailthrush almost by the truckloads; Shy Heathwrens, Black-eared Cuckoo; Inland Thornbill; etc etc…..Head out there this spring if you get half a chance! cheers Peter
