Quite a few birders now use iPhones in the field for recording their sightings etc. and even as a ‘phone. I phones do come with a camera, but it is generally not much use to a birder due to a somewhat limited focal length. For those iPhone owners who happen to have an odd Canon or Nikon tele lens lying around, there is now an adaptor available which allows you to mount those lenses on your iPhone http://www.macrumors.com/2011/07/07/mount-your-canonnikon-slr-lenses-on-your-iphone/
