Swan watching in Australia

Hi all

I received this message from Don. We rarely see swans in the Top End. Would anyone on the list be able to help him?

    Hi Denise,

    Black Swans breed on most wetlands in the Clarence Valley, north coast New South Wales. A small wetland at Coutts Crossing, where I live, has anything up to a dozen pairs nesting. There have been large concentrations at times (up to 10,000 birds) on the Clarence Broadwater, near Maclean.

    As Ross says they are common on most east coast wetlands.

    I would have thought nearly any waterway along the east coast you are fighting them off with a stick. In Melbourne there are always black swans on Albert Park where Raoul Mulder has a long-term research program running.
