Can anyone supply the email address of the repsonsible people – i.e. the ministers, both federal and state, the shooters federation or whatever they call themselves and any other parties who may have an interest and may be swayed by, or should at least be made aware of, public interest/opinion?
Maybe providing those would be a help to those of us who could take this type of action and forward same to other birding organisations/email groups?
I regularly receive requests to support similar causes world wide and often do. It may not seem like much but if people in positions of control/power/persuasion become aware that large numbers of the population support a cause it can make them re-think their own ‘opinion’……

Dear Debbie
Keep your reports coming, Debbie. In NSW we are now facing the prospect, with a change of government and the Shooters and Fishers raising their voices, of the re-introduction of a duck season, and permits to choot in national parks.
The fight to preserve habitat for our native species is difficult enough, the thought that they may be subject to mindless slaughter apals me.

Politicians’ email addresses should be on the relevant parliamentary websites. It probably helps if you live in a marginal seat to put pressure on – they are more likely to listen.
BA and BOCA lobby every year to ban this barbaric practise, but we are routinely ignored in favour of the shooting lobby. Maybe mass emails are the way to go – although opinion polls always show a majority of people want it banned but politicians ignore them as well (as they do on many issues!)
