Bowen Birding Info

Gooday Kirri.
We used to live in Bowen. The local Tourist Guide used to have a Bird list plus some info on locations. Central to Bowen is Mullers Lagoon an excellent Birding area. Bowen Saltworks did allow me to conduct Wader Counts years ago but I am not sure what the Entry requirements are now.
The beaches and Dalrymple Point are worth a visit as well as the Mangroves in that area.
Kaili Swamp was open years ago at Abbot Point but now has Security Gates denying any access.
Welcome to give me a call but I now live at Muralug Beach Torres Strait.

Airlie Beach

Hi there ☺️
Been looking through EBird of good spots around Airlie Beach & Bowen…don’t know the area that well yet…
I have some spots I’ll be visiting that I’ve found on EBird but…just wondering if anyone has some local knowledge of Great places to check out in these areas of the Whitsundays that they specifically enjoyed?

Behaviour of Island Thrush on Christmas Island

This I s not my observation is the observation of the guy who runs the accommodation I’m staying at on Christmas Island.
He says that he’s noticed Island Thrushes in his backyard hopping around finding very small red crabs and meticulously picking all the legs and claws off the crab before swallowing it whole. I don’t know whether this behaviour is ever been noted before but I just thought I’d post it here.
I’m on Christmas Island at the moment I haven’t seen any vagrants, I’ve just just been concentrating on seeing the endemics.

Grey Falcon

Hi Folks
I am pretty certain I spotted a grey falcon in Edeowie gorge, on Edeowie Station on the Flinders Ranges on Sunday. I only saw it in the air, but circling, reasonably close and through my bins for a couple of minutes. Given how rare they are, my first 9 thoughts were "it must be a grey goshawk" but both range and habitat wrong for the goshawk, and it was greyish white rather than clear white below, and very clear black fingers are the end of the wings; flight pattern seemed right from the descriptions, too. 
Good luck to anyone who is visiting the Flinders in the next few days. Only back in internet range today
