Western Australia updates

I just finished a swing through the areas south of Perth, and then up to Mount Magnet and CueI used Frank O’Connor’s notes extensively, and found them very helpfulHere however is some more current info I visited Cape Naturaliste twice looking for RT Tropicbirds without successThe first try was from 1000 to 1330, and the second from 1500 to 1700 on another day.Perhaps they were still out to sea??The museum at the lighthouse is closed for remodeling, and due to reopen in perhaps a year?Just past the gate marked “authorized entry only”, there are several large water tanks, one of which is leaking and has formed a little pool.  This is behind the closed museum. There was a constant stream of small birds coming to the water when I was there, mostly Silvereyes, but within 5 minutes they were joined by a RE Firetail who came in for a drink and a bath.  One can contribute a gold coin in the office, and obtain very nice views of the water bath in return. The Gray Honeyeater site on Beacon Road South near Paynes Find, is still good.  I saw 2 birds, or possibly the same bird twice on the east side just north of the grid.  It (they?) was very tape responsive but did not ever vocalize.  Along this road a few days later, about 2 miles from Paynes Find, I found a roadside flock of 24 Major Mitchell’s Cockatoos, one of the highlights of my trip. In the NE corner of The Granites, the picnic area just north of Mount Magnet, there is a nesting pair of Little Woodswallows using the cliff-face    Hope this is of some interest Terry WittMurfreesboro TennesseeUSA
