We visited an Open Garden in Outlook Drive, Eaglemont this morning – as we left I noticed an Eastern Spinebill and some Silvereyes in a flowering Hibiscus by the gate. Once outside, I had a very brief glimpse of a Rufous Fantail, closely followed by two Silvereyes – it whipped across the road and into a dense Pittosporum hedge, which screens a garden full of ferns. Rufous Fantails are not found in the Heidelberg area except as spring and autumn passage migrants.
