Hi all At least three Regent Honeyeaters are currently being seen on the Chiltern Track, which is in the eastern section of Ku-Rin-Gai National Park in Northern Sydney. The birds are being seen sporadically at a patch of gums that has some very small amount of blossom and lots of lerps (but plenty of buds looking like flowering soon) – they are often high up and are regularly chased by other honeyeaters and they can disappear for an hour or so at a time – I got lucky this afternoon when they showed within about 5 minutes of my arrival and hung around for about 20-25 minutes before going somewhere else. Last time I can recall any Regents in Sydney was the Jan 2010 bird at Nurrangingy Reserve in Doonside. Plenty of other honeyeaters with them and along the track, including Fuscous, Scarlet, White-eared, White-naped, White-cheeked, Yellow-tufted, Yellow-faced, Brown-headed, New Holland and Scarlet, Eastern Spinebill, both wattlebirds and Noisy Friarbirds. Also good numbers of Silvereye, Spotted Pardalote and a few Striated Pardalotes in there too. Some earlier observers had also seen a Little Eagle. The location for the birds is clearly posted on eremaea, so I’m not giving anything away. Cheers Tom Wilson _______________________________________________ Birding-Aus mailing list Birding-Aus@birding-aus.org To change settings or unsubscribe visit: http://birding-aus.org/mailman/listinfo/birding-aus_birding-aus.org
