By Birding-Aus, on January 18th, 2017 Except it wasn’t all that wet. We had just a couple of light showers apart from a bucketing on the Arnhem Highway. Very hot and steamy of course.
It seems a lot of birds make themselves scarce at this time of year. We saw 2 Radjah Shelduck up a tree but no other ducks at . . . → Read More: Trip report – Darwin in the wet

By Bill Stent, on January 17th, 2017 I’m not totally sure of this one, but there was what was either a juvenile Blackbird or a Song Thrush in Treasury Gradens this afternoon, up near the vehicle entrance to the government precinct. The light crescent around the face was clear, but I’m not sure precisely.
Anyone else there?

By Birding-Aus, on January 16th, 2017 I know a few people have noted the Emu in the first episode of Vikings series 5 but can anyone confirm for me the Eastern Rosella that appeared briefly in cameo in series 4? Just out of interest.
Cheers Gary

By Birding-Aus, on January 15th, 2017 I was in Venus Bay, South Australia a few days ago and had little trouble locating ‘Chuckles’ (the Laughing Gull that has been there for several months now). There have been continuing reports re Chuckles on Facebook but not much on birding-aus. However, the purpose of this posting is to ask if anyone has an . . . → Read More: Chuckles and Pacific Gulls
By Birding-Aus, on January 15th, 2017 Some months ago the idea of a week birding in western NSW seemed like a good idea. A warm but pleasant amble down the Lachlan with the caravan brought us to Forbes and three booked nights at the CP. Now closer followers of ancient rituals and weather forecasts would already have noted some red flags. . . . → Read More: Hot birding down the Lachlan
