Following the Pitta name change posting I have been delving into Lynx’s “Birds of the World” in which the current IOC taxonomy is used.

From what I can see the only changes that effect the Australian list are all to do with alterations in the taxonomical names:

Sarus Crane and Brolga are now in the new genus Antigone

Fork-tailed Swift , Altona, Victoria.

At 13.15 hrs, today 20/4/2017, I was surprised to see a single Fork-tailed Swift flying over my garden in Altona, Victoria. I live close to Truganina Swamp reserve and nearby Laverton Creek. In search of the Night Parrot

Hello Helen,

Your information about a sighting at Ardmore Station is quite important, because that is not far from Devoncourt where there have also been reports in the past.

The ranges SW of Cloncurry may well be another “hot spot” for Night Parrots, although a concerted search for them there some years ago was unsuccessful.

In Search of the Night Parrot

I recently returned from a wonderful search for the Night Parrot in the Channel Country of western Queensland with Scott Baker and Bernie O’Keefe.

Channel Country of Western Queensland

I recently returned from an excellent trip through the Channel Country of western Queensland with Scott Baker and Bernie O’Keefe.
