By Birding-Aus, on June 14th, 2017 Hi all,
I hope someone can help me with this as I couldn’t find anything online and I don’t have access to appropriate literature atm.
Do the calls of male Rose-crowned Fruit-dove differ from those of the females or are they more or less the same?
Many thanks,
Falk

By Birding-Aus, on June 13th, 2017 Has a report been lodged with Birdline? There’s nothing there as at midday 13 June? That’s close enough to home and/or work for an early or late attempt. Thanks Tom

When I returned from a wonderful birding trip to Central Asia 5. June, Tromsø had had an unusually cold May, even for here, and the returning migrants were all a few weeks later than usual. The birches, the dominant trees here, were largely bare still when I returned and . . . → Read More: Spring was late this year in Tromsø, N. norway

By Birding-Aus, on June 8th, 2017 Hi All,
a request for some info/advice for a forthcoming trip to New Calendonia.
Generally I prefer to find my own birds, but most people who have written reports seem to engage a guide for the Parc de la Riviere Bleue, the key site on the island for Kagu and Crow Honeyeater (and many of . . . → Read More: RFI New Calendonia
By Birding-Aus, on June 6th, 2017 RE Lyn Saint’s request:
Hi Lyn,
A worthwhile site for potential Gibber Birds and Cinnamon Quail Thrushes is the Hutchison Monument about 11km south of Coober Pedy, on the eastern side of the road. Pull in there, and explore downhill to the east.
Alice Springs is quite dry ATM (no rain since mid-January), so the . . . → Read More: Birding along Stuart Highway and Alice Springs
