Unusual rainbow lorikeet

Hi all, There was a flock of Rainbow Lorikeets on my lawn a couple of days ago. One of them, while having all the usual colours on the front, had a bright yellow back and wings instead of green. I double checked that it was definitely a Rainbow lorikeet. Is this a mutation? Or a . . . → Read More: Unusual rainbow lorikeet

RFI Norfolk Island

Hi All,

My wife and I are holidaying on Norfolk Island in the first week of October.

Any tips on where to see the land endemics and various seabirds would be much appreciated.

Also, is the Northern Shoveller still around or any other unusual sightings?

Thanks

…a tiny, fine bird of the treetops, which moves in a small group, squeaks like a cartoon, & flutters its tail quickly up&down after landing on a branch…?

August near Woodford.

RFI: Pink Robin image

A requests for photographers.

I am seeking a suitable image of a Pink Robin to use in a talk on Strzelecki Warm Temperate Rainforest later this year.

Ideally the image would be near full-frame and show a male if possible…

Scamming?

Peter, Carol, This is a similar one I got in June. I don’t know that there is a negative effect for the recipient. I added the link to my website and noticed a spike in page views but beyond that no problem I am aware of. Should I be looking out for something more sinister? . . . → Read More: Scamming?

Last Chance to See ?

If infection and inbreeding are major problems, I’m not sure if the time when OBPs only survive as aviary birds will be very long.
