By Birding-Aus, on September 19th, 2017 Does anyone living in the Melbourne area have some 8.5×42 Swarovski binoculars I can look through. I am thinking of buying some, but there are none available in Melbourne.
Thank you Elizabeth Lloyd.

By Birding-Aus, on September 18th, 2017 Hi All.
We have had some good sightings in our part of Mulgoa Valley over the last week.
Best was a juvenile BAILLON’S CRAKE among the reeds on a dam, new for my local list.
A circling SWAMP HARRIER, with Brown Goshawk close by and a Nankeen Kestrel, CRESTED SHRIKE-TIT, AZURE KINGFISHER . . . → Read More: Spring in Mulgoa Valley
By Alan Gillanders, on September 18th, 2017 First ones in Yungaburra for the year heard last Monday morning. We usually have our first about a week after Sydney. The PNG birds are slow starters.
Had a female riflebird in the yard for the first time in many years. We are about a kilometre from rainforest. Regards, Alan

By Birding-Aus, on September 16th, 2017 It’s that time of year. I heard a CBC calling in Brisbane a few days ago, and then again the other night. Not sure if it is staying around or passing through. Given the dry conditions this year, I’m not sure if we will have the typical migration timing.
Regards, Laurie.

By Birding-Aus, on September 14th, 2017 Hi Peter
Thank you for taking the time to address my query. Sorry for the time taken to reply. I have now had chance to measure the actual focus distance which is 9 metres. Someone has suggested that it may be that my eyesight is not as good as it used to be. Perhaps there . . . → Read More: Birding-Aus Digest, Vol 47, Issue 14
By Birding-Aus, on September 13th, 2017 Hi all, there has been a flurry of activity in improving Wikipedia articles and I have been involved..and we need some photos…
To release photos for Wikipedia, they have to be licenced for commercial use, which many photographers are (justifiably) uncomfortable with.
What I am hoping is that some people are happy to release “offcuts” . . . → Read More: photos for wikipedia articles
