By Birding-Aus, on October 13th, 2017 Today a pair of Yellow Tailed Black Cockatoos flew into my backyard at Springfield, NSW, screaching and making a lot of noise. It has been about 4 – 5 years since we have had a visit. They settled in trees in the mangrove swamp land nearby. Sent from my Samsung Galaxy smartphone.

By paul, on October 12th, 2017 Hi birders,
Ruth and I are heading to Ecuador. We have a Galápagos trip planned, of course – but will have a week in the country before then (and have no problem with travelling). Can anyone recommend must-visit places and local guides? Also, any recommendations for field guides and/or apps?
Thanks in advance,

By Birding-Aus, on October 11th, 2017 Hi birders Could anyone recommend an app or a collection of bird call recordings I can purchase before my trip to South Africa in June next year? By Birding-Aus, on October 9th, 2017 I have birded a fair bit in the Emirates when my daughter and family were living in Abu Dhabi.

By Birding-Aus, on October 9th, 2017 Ken,
It is usually difficult to name the Myiagra females and juveniles from photographs. Would help if you say exactly where in the ACT you saw it.
I would lean towards a Satin, but they should already be in their breeding territories up in the mountains by now – they don’t breed in the hills . . . → Read More: Help with Flycatcher Id

By Birding-Aus, on October 8th, 2017 Hi
Does anyone need old issues of Wingspan and Birdlife magazine (plus a few Bird Observer, State of Australia’s Birds etc)?
I’ve kept a lot of them since about 2000 but i’ve run out of space due to a renovation and would like to give them away.
Please email me directly if you want any.
