Massive migration event in Canada

Hi All I picked up a reference to the following massive warbler migration event reported from Quebec in Eastern Canada through a UK birding report – the link is to an ebird report – the numbers involved make some of the reported Honeyeater movements here seem a bit feeble… ebird.org/view/checklist/S46116491

Cheers

Good news for Abbott’s Booby? (calyptorhynchus)

If you were one of the 56,000 people who supported BirdLife’s campaign to stop phosphate mining on Christmas Island, thank you. It gives us hope for Toondah and other developments which are pushing endangered birds toward extinction. You can also help BirdLife (and like-minded groups) campaign for stronger nature laws to protect our native birds . . . → Read More: Good news for Abbott’s Booby? (calyptorhynchus)

The potential role of birds in distributing insects

The eggs of some species survive avian digestion tracts – see www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2018/05/180528123957.htm

[Perhaps this is how the ancestors of the Lord Howe stick insects arrived]

Common Myna not in Adelaide

We have just spent a week in Adelaide and I was surprised not to see a single Common Myna. Looking at eBird it seems they haven’t made it across the Mallee. Is this just because they don’t like the mallee habitat or is there some other reason?
