Photos of Swifts in flight

Hi folks, Bill here

I’m looking for typical from-below photos of Pacific Swifts and White-throated Needletails for a Facebook post for my work at Optics Central. I don’t need Attenborough quality, but more of the view that most casual observers will see from the ground in Victoria.

Ideally, I’m looking for one photo with both . . . → Read More: Photos of Swifts in flight

First bird of 2019

Dear all

The last years I have told a little about the first birds of the new year in Tromsø, N. Norway. This year that will be very quickly done, for even though Riet and I went on a walk, in part . . . → Read More: First bird of 2019

A couple of Swift sightings

Mike (and others) White-throated Needletails – at least 2 at Blackbutt Avenue Pennant Hills 28/12/18 6:40PM. Pacific Swift – a flock just flew . . . → Read More: A couple of Swift sightings

Would any findings in any significant way affect the Development and if so how?

Who decides.

Even Rio Tinto can’t create thousands of hectares of Red Goshawk habitat , or could they ultimately rehabilitate the stripped . . . → Read More: Red goshawk research

A little perspective on catching of raptors

Fortunately this is a story that has seen a positive change. https://www.birdlife.org/asia/news/action-amur-falcons-brings-hope-end-hunting-nagaland

Who is the killer

Whilst I am not trying to start a new conversation on this subject (but found it all so interesting), I now believe the Tawny Frogmouth was killed by a fox. We found the feathers well away from the other deaths and as I said under pine trees. Last night I managed to get a night . . . → Read More: Who is the killer

Red Goshawk

Hi Steve

While I do applaud your OBSERVATIONAL Red Goshawk and other raptor surveys in Cape York, we are getting away from my initial concerns of trapping Red Goshawks during their breeding season. I’m sure you have made Richard Seaton aware of my and many others concerns.

As for revealing your active Red . . . → Read More: Red Goshawk
