Hundreds of Broad-billed Prions blown ashore in New Zealand

 

An interesting story out of New Zealand. Over 500 Prions, including Broad-billed Prions have been picked up ashore on the Kapiti coast.

    The number of prions now being reported washed up in New Zealand are incredible. Here’s just one example I have lifted from birdingNZ.net:

    Waiterere Beach Distance (km) – 1.5 Broad-billed Prion – 730 Salvin’s Prion – 15 Fairy Prion – 36 Diving petrel – 4 TOTAL – 796 Birds/km – 531
