I’m not sure how, but I seem to have accidentally deleted Mike’s message below from the list moderation queue. So forwarding it by hand.

Hello Nonn
A short term access permit can be collected from Werribee Open Range Zoo
www.melbournewater.com.au/community-and-education/recreation/birdwatching/apply-birdwatching-permit
Won’t guarantee OBPs, but will get you onto public areas of the site.
Hope that helps

Subject: Re: Thai birder visit to WTP
Hello all,
Thank you for your help. I am passing by Geelong on family trip and did not, for one second, hope to see OBP in natural habitat. However, when I saw the news that 15 has been recently released and that a team is tracking them I took my chance and asked through facebook page, of which I have been followed the activities for a few years now. I have no idea that the site need permit to enter as most birding area I have been to in Australia so far is free to enter. My situation did not permit me to apply and pick up the permit/key in time for Sunday morning. Anyway, I hope all the success on this release project and hope that there will be more and more OBP in nature.
Best regards,
Nonn Panitvong

Somewhat short notice!
The best bet, one would have thought, would be to contact the BirdLife Australia OBP team if the desire is to specifically see OBPs / OBP conservation work.
Amy Adams is the project officer. Steve Davidson is the BLA organiser for OBP surveys at WTP. I have copied them in.
However it’s asking a bit much asking on Friday for someone to show you the OBP work this weekend …..
Good luck…..
Mike

> Hi all, a birder from Thailand got in touch, asking to observe OBP tracking at the WTP. Dr Nonn Panitvong is a committee member of the Bird Conservation Society of Thailand, BirdLife’s Thai partner. Dr Nonn has only a very limited time in Melbourne. I think he may have a small chance of seeing some released OBPs in public areas, so this is a call for anyone willing to take him there weekend 21/22 April. Please email him directly: npanitvong@gmail.com
