Sun 5 Jan Black-breasted Buzzard Alice Springs One bird located on the Ross Highway approx. 30 kms from AS. It was feeding on road kill. In flight the bird had large white ‘windows’ near the point of its wing and displayed a short tail, supported by photos and thus eliminating the potential of a young wedgie. Bernie OKeefe Fri 3 Jan Western Bowerbird Olive Pink Botanical Gardens, Alice Springs I realise that this species is not uncommon around this area but to sit and be witness to the courtship display and interaction between the male and female for 20 minutes was something special. I could not believe the antics the male used! I wish i had filmed it! It gave a great insight into bowerbird behaviour. A truly amazing experience only metres away hiding in a bush. Bernie OKeefe Birdline Northern Territory is hosted by Eremaea Birds. _______________________________________________ Birding-Aus mailing list Birding-Aus@birding-aus.org To change settings or unsubscribe visit: http://birding-aus.org/mailman/listinfo/birding-aus_birding-aus.org
