FW: which is best field guide to New Zealand birds?

Hi all, The Fitter photographic guide isn’t much use. Scofield is excellent (but bulky). The Field Guide by Heather etc is fine as far as it goes but is woefully out of date, and as mentioned is quite big. There is however a “Handguide” by the same authors which is exactly the same book in softback with most of the text removed, and so is much lighter and thinner. THat is good – the big one is not exactly practical to carry around!
