The WA Sightings web site is http://birdswa.org.au/sightings.htm although it is better to access it via the BirdLife Australia web site at birdlife.org.au/wa and then click on Sightings No recent records, but I am not sure how many people would have looked. Even if the last sightings were birds breeding on Rottnest, then they probably would have gone north by now. Bob also asked about Redthroat, Painted Button-quail and Sooty Tern. There is a chance that you could see Sooty Tern from the shore at Lancelin north of Perth, but again I doubt if there would be any still around this late in the season. This is a good area to look for Rock Parrot (I last saw them at the north end of town on a grassy area). Not sure about a good site for Redthroat close to Perth. Kalbarri north of Geraldton is the closest I can think of, or perhaps somewhere near Hyden SSE of Perth. But neither would be certainties. They are relatively easy to get near Carnarvon, and also Mt Magnet / Cue but these are long distances from Perth. Painted Button-quail is getting harder to find in the south west in the last few years. The dry conditions? There are still some at Dryandra State Forest, but you would need to search hard. The area near the start of the Ochre Trail is still a chance. You could try along Collins Road off the Brookton Highway SSE of Perth. Rottnest Island is actually not a bad place to look for them.
