Hi All I am going to Europe for 4 weeks and need to get a field guide. I will be in western, central and eastern Europe so need something fairly comprehensive. Can anyone suggest an appropriate guide(s). Cheers Bob

Hi Bob, The Oxford guide (Princeton also publish the exact same guide) is the standard. The authors are Lars Svensson, and Peter Grant, with the excellent illustrations by Killian Mullarney and Dan Zetterstrom. I’ver heard you can get the same guide in an app for your phone and there is and excellent app from iBird as well. Hope you see plenty, Regards, Allan

The best field guide for any region is the Collins Bird Guide by zetterstrom et al. It covers the western pale arctic so all the bits you need. Sent from my iPad

Bob, The Collins Field Guide to the Birds of Britain and Europe is probably the guide for you. There is also an app for iPhone/iPad and presumably Android.
