Birdpedia – Australia – Weekly Digest

The following is a digest of Sightings Reported on Birdpedia for the period Monday, March 28, 2022 to Sunday, April 3, 2022:

Area: SA

Location: In our garden at St Peters

Eastern Spinebill (Acanthorhynchus tenuirostris) (1) Our spinebill turned up about a week ago, but I didn’t get a good look till just now to see another male, feeding in hibiscus flowers.
A spinebill paid a first brief visit in June 2014 (first sighting since I moved here in 1988), then again for a couple of weeks in April 2018. Next visit was for almost 2 months in 2020 (late March till mid May). Last year it was heard calling for a week in early May.
When the birds have sat still long enough they have all been seen to be males.
