Birdline Western Australia Weekly Update

Birdline Western Australia Published sightings for the week ending 18 Jan 2015. Wed 14 Jan Yellow Billed Spoonbill Kalgoorlie Last night I saw a Yellow Billed Spoonbill and I photographed it this morning. I didnt think they would come to Kalgoorlie Grant Quist Tue 13 Jan Western Osprey Cocos Keeling Island West Island First spotted during cyclone Kate on christmas day and finally located in the far corner of the inner lagoon. Cyclone Kate came down from Java and passed christmas island then onwards towards Cocos Island . Pam Jones and Geof Christie Western Osprey Cocos Keeling Island West Island First spotted during cyclone Kate on christmas day and finally located in the far corner of the inner lagoon. Cyclone Kate came down from Java and passed christmas island then onwards towards Cocos Island . Pam Jones and Geof Christie Osprey inner lagoon West Island The third sighting of this bird since first seen on Christmas Day 2014. Debate in progress as to the possibility of to being a Western Osprey rather than an Eastern one given it’s location. Geof Christie Sun 11 Jan Banded Stilt Lake Claremont Single adult amongst Avocets on western side of lake. Other sightings of interest included all three crakes (including a downy Spotless Crake chick), Buff-banded Rail, four Greenshank, a Wood Sandpiper and numerous Red-kneed Dotterel.
