Birdline Victoria Weekly Update

Birdline Victoria Published sightings for the week ending 11 Jan 2015. Sun 11 Jan Turquoise Parrot Bunyip State Park Small party of Turquoise Parrots flushed along Channel Track including at least one juv. Poor record shot taken Tim Bawden Sat 10 Jan Banded Lapwing Lake Hamilton (Tyers St dead end) A young bird which appeared to be hanging out with the local Masked Lapwings until they all flew off with only the Banded returning a short time later Samantha Greiner Fri 9 Jan re Long-billed Dowitcher Lake Tutchewop Long-billed Dowitcher apparently absent from Lake. Searched southern end of Lake without success on Friday afternoon and evening. Searched on Saturday morning, afternoon and evening again without success. Very few waders there, saw only two small flocks. No BWST and only a hand full of STSP. Weather was rainy and overcast. Jim and Greg Caine Eastern Koel. Crusoe Reservoir, Bendigo 1 Eastern Koel seen & heard by Park Ranger Miles Geldart at car park entrance. Miles Geldart per Ken Dredge Freckled Ducks Bendigo Sewage Ponds There were 14 Freckled Ducks seen this morning along with at least a thousand Pink-eared Ducks, several Hardheads, Grey and Chestnut Teal, Australian Shovelers, Red-necked Avocets, Pacific Black Ducks, Australian Shelducks, Black-winged Stilts, Sharp-tailed Sandpipers just to name a few.
