Birdline Central & Southern Queensland Published sightings for the week ending 11 Jan 2015. Sat 10 Jan Purple Swamphen Melaleuca Lakes and Parklands I observed 2 “Pied” Purple Swamphens this morning near Melaleuca Lake @ North Lakes (down the end ) Several other Purple Swamphens in the area including a recently fledged chick. Sue Lee Thu 8 Jan Rainbow Lorikeet Picnic grounds at Main Beach Coochiemudlo Island Qld. We observed a pair of Rainbow Lorikeets tending to a nest in the hollow of a eucalypt. One of the Lorikeets was typical however the other had significant appearance consistent with leucism. Neloa McNaulty Tue 6 Jan Ruddy Turnstone Wellington Pt A pair seen feeding at the afternoon low tide out on the grass beds . One banded but unable to read the details. Ken doy
