Thanks so much to those who provided suggestions as to what species of tree the cockatiels were resting in at Bowra when I was filming them for my Doco Discovering the world of parrots. http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/803/cockatiel2.jpg/
Based on what was suggested I believe the tree would be Acacia cambagei. http://www.flickr.com/photos/58828131@N07/5695541639/
Acacia harpophylla http://www.flickr.com/photos/davidtng/2834395856/
was also suggested and is a great candidate but I thought Acacia cambegei fit better with the soil and habitat at Bowra. Of course this is only strongly suggestive as I am as I said badly lacking in knowledge of Australian Botany.
Thanks again everyone!
Don
