Wind-blown seabirds around Toowoomba

To add to the picture of inland strays consequent upon Tropical Cyclone Oswald – At least four Sooty Terns have been handed in to a wildlife carer in the Lockyer Valley over the last few days, with four more seen flying seemingly healthily and happily over a dam at Helidon. As previously mentioned, a Wedge-tailed Shearwater cruised by at Abberton on Monday and another was seen between Helidon and Toowoomba later in the day. At least four sick or dead Wedge-tailed Shearwaters have also been taken in to the same wildlife carer, along with 3 White-tailed Tropicbirds. Five frigatebirds (sp?) were reported from Umbiram a little west of Toowoomba. One expired petrel has also been delivered to the aforesaid carer. Investigations as to its identity are still continuing. Bill JollyAbbertonHelidon, Qld ===============================
