    Dear Glenn,

There is a good chance that the ‘babies lasted only 3 days’ because you disturbed them in numerous ways. The parents were stressed and used more energy than usual. The feeding frequency was likely lowered, affecting the health of the nestlings. Spending time in front of a nest can trigger curiosity of predators and help them to find the nest. So, in order to have a happy clutch in your second nest, you should better leave them alone.

    Best wishes,

    Nikolas
