Hello Tom,
From your comments you seem to be under the impression that Australian Ravens have a deeper sounding caw than our other corvids. Not so! Aust Ravens are the sopranos (or perhaps tenors!).
All of this corvid stuff is well covered (including the calls) on my website www.graemechapman.com.au As people have noted, flocks or more than 20 or so Australian Ravens are unusual.
For anyone who is interested in hearing and watching Little Ravens, they are the resident breeding birds at Bowral, and Goulburn, and many other higher, colder places in NSW.
This time of year, like some other species of birds, immatures (often in flocks) do descend to the warmer coastal plain in winter.
Here at Basin View it is Pied Currawongs.
Cheers
Graeme
