Rare Malleefowl

Hi. In the field guides by Pizzey & Knight, 7th & 9th Editions, it is suggested that a small population of Malleefowl may remain in the far NW corner of S.A. and the adjacent area just over the border in the N.T. We will be travelling through this area in June and are wondering about the status of such a population. I don’t recall reading any reports about Malleefowl in this area. Can anyone add a comment of any sort about these birds in this remote location? Have they even been reported over the last 5 years? Cheers Brian & Meg ===============================

G’day Brian and Meg, The Birddata atlas website shows sightings for Malleefowl in the far NW corner of SA, but doesn’t record any for NT.

Have a great time searching for them, anyway!
