Raptors on the Moolort Plain

Greetings all, While driving to Melbourne and back yesterday I had some great sightings of raptors as I crossed the Moolort Plain which lies between Carisbrook and Newstead (west of Bendigo). Early morning a Spotted Harrier flew close to the highway in a typical low fashion just above the ground. Brown Falcons and Black-shouldered Kites were common on the overhead wires plus an Auatralian Kestrel. On the return late afternoon a Wedge-tailed Eagle and a Whistling Kite were near the reservoir end of the plain. Little Eagles are regularly seen here as well plus a pair of black Falcons which are reliable when the farmers start burning later in the season. Its not a bad spot for the raptor lovers in the group. cheers, Gary Oliver”Birdshoot Australia”birdshootaustralia.blogpot.com ===============================
